Kofu Castle [1/5] a splendid high stone wall remains, but glimpses of recent alteration traces
Kofu Castle is a modern castle built in Kofu after the destruction of the Takeda family, and it is thought that it was built by the retainers of Hideyoshi who entered Kai after the Kanto transfer of Ieyasu. All the buildings were demolished at the time of the castle, although the Honmaru and surrounding parts of the walls and surrounding stones were often left. The railroad tracks of JR are crossing the castle. In recent years, such as gates and turrets have been restored (partially simulated) based on ancient documents. Tower units remain in Honmaru, but there are no documents to indicate that tower was present (only circumstantial evidence such as gilt tiles and Banbury tiles that would have been killer whale in tower).

Kofu Castle is located just south of JR Kofu station and is maintained as “Maizuru-Jo-Koen”. It is quite widely, and the entrance is here and there (maybe five places), and it seems to go around by the crispy and the stroke writing as usual. I want to see the whole thing while going around the circumference and still entering from another entrance.
First, we went to the blacksmith’s ring gate in southwest part of the castle area. The wall and the splendid gate of the stone wall which appear suddenly in the city lined with the shopping district and the government office. It seems to be very well maintained for the castle ruins which remain in the city center. First, look at the whole map in front of the gate and think about the route. By the way, all the gates and walls are rebuilt, and the only thing that remains from the Edo period is the stone walls (which are quite modified) and the inner moat of some poles.
Guide Map of Blacksmith’s gate. The alias of Kofu Castle is Maizuru Castle, and the castle area is established as Maizuru Castle Park. The left is north. The JR Kofu station is in the northwest (lower left of the map), and some of the Honmaru and the surrounding circles seem to remain. The Uchibori was buried except for the south and became a road. In addition, the north side of the road is divided by the laying of JR line, and the stone wall of the line side is a mock stone wall which was newly construction at the time of dividing.
The place where you are now is the gate in the lower right (southwest). First of all, it enters from here, it goes out from the nearby gate, it goes out to the moat in the south while seeing the outer wall, and the east half is seen in the west half of the castle (tower, Honmaru, and tower units), and the route which looks at the eastern part in the order now is passed.
Then, I went to blacksmith’s wheel gate. The outside of the gate is the gate where the dressing room and the inside are the forge and the two rings. The backstage tune Ring is developed now, and the building related to the prefectural government is built. By the way, Maizuru Castle Park with the castle ruins is always open.
From inside the blacksmith’s wheel gate. It is a “medicine gate” with a large roof covering the pillar (pillar) and the inner pillar (pillar) in front of the gate.
From the blacksmith’s wheel gate to the inside blacksmith’s wheel. The road is curved to the right. The stone wall is a “implantation” method that is made flat by striking the surface.
The castle area is surrounded by a clean clay wall. The ground is covered completely with concrete etc. According to the pamphlet, it might have been made concrete and barrier-free because it was maintained as a city park rather than the historical site maintenance for the prefecture designation Historic site rather than the country designation historic Site. Did you already put your hand too much here and there to make it to the country designated historic site?
By the way, a well-formed pamphlet (A4-color facing 8P) is distributed in a lot of sites, but it is distributed in PDF to Yamanashi Prefecture HP. Nice. Download here .
I discourage to walk around the castle ruins. The stone steps from the blacksmith’s wheel and the high stone wall of the next step. The construction material is disturbing, but it is an impressive stone wall.
Up Ishigaki. The corner is aligned with the corner, and it divides finely, and the mark that the shape is straightened is left. The warp feels good, too.
When the stone steps are lifted, a gentle slope continues from there to the center of the blacksmith’s wheel. This slope is not drawn in the picture of the Kofu Castle of the pamphlet (Tower the bottom of the wheel is as it is blacksmith), possibly barrier-free in the maintenance as a city park (it is possible to go up without stairs to what Honmaru) could be the road. On the high stone wall in front of the eyes, “tower”, it hits one step of Honmaru. However, I do not know how far this stone wall has been altered along with the slope construction.
Tower The high stone of the wheel. This subtle bend is generally a facility called “Yokoya” that is used to shoot the enemy soldiers stuck to the stone wall from the side.
The stone wall of the tower is continued to the far back. There is a part like the dog run, but this slope itself is construction in recent years, this dog runs itself all eye.
I looked up from around the edge of the slope tower. A splendid uniform condition of the corner stone, the warp condition of the stone wall in the back is understood well. The stone wall must be seen from the corner.
However, well-equipped stone walls (especially implantation) is also good to look up at an angle that understands well the plane degree from the bottom. Like this. The stone is a matinee, but a flat plane. The fellow who climb to hang the hand because the gap is quite fit, and the mechanism to fall off easily and to put a hand on the clogged stone that is moderately embedded.
And the side of the alley. Especially, the arrangement of the exquisite stone of the Valley fold part is wonderful.
Well, after love the high stone wall of the tower, it bends to the right from the top stage of the slope, and it head to the direction of the tower.
It seems that there was a old times and Sakshimo gate here. The slope is a big slope (stone staircase) to go up from this top to the tower, and it is under the slope because it is a sakshimogate. But since the ground has been so uniformly, I do not know where the gate was (cornerstone).
The tower which pokes the heavens is noticeable when Honmaru is looked up from around the Saksuben gate. It seems that the tower which can be seen from anywhere in the castle because it is insanely high, is often in the castle ruins “Cenotaph” (monument enshrined the remembrance of the person who died in the war)… More details later.
To No. 2 Maru. There seems to have been a lot of construction of the building from the Meiji era to the Marunouchi, and there was a parliamentary hall, too. The Martial Arts Museum (Taketoku-Dono) of the photograph is erected now. Built in Showa 3. It goes to the right from here and it goes up the hill (stone steps), and it heads to tower to the ring on the other side of the Honmaru when passing through the narrow passage on the right side of this Taketoku pavilion.
The long stone steps leading to the tower of the Saksuben mark. The stone steps seem to have seen, and it seems that it was a slope literally in old times. The yellow stone wall at the top left of the stone steps. It might be a stone wall at the time of the first castle of Hideyoshi’s reign.
And tower to the wheel. It seems to enter from “Iron Gate (Kurogane)” which is soon on the slope in Honmaru by the tune ring which spreads long sideways on the side Honmaru South according to the pamphlet tower. The door and the pillar of the gate made of the tree, and the one that pasted the iron plate to protect it from the fire Arrow is called “Iron Gate”. When you paste the copper plate, it is “Akagamon” (e.g. Odawara Castle ).
Iron Gate Description Board. It is the explanation board of the restoration maintenance business rather than the explanation board of the iron Gate. The conventional method uses the existing cornerstone and the beam traces remaining in the stone wall, and it is restored as the figure which remains in the old photograph etc.
Honmaru to go up the iron gate. First, watch the tower at the southern end of Honmaru. It’s a tower like a pencil rocket. There was a description board at the time of the tower installation below.
Tower Description Board. It is not a cenotaph, but a monument to gratitude. Built in Taisho 9. In commemoration of having gotten the forest of the Imperial Household from Emperor Meiji to the prefecture in Meiji 44, it was made from the granite which had been collected from the mountain. The ancient Egypt of the obelisk is shaped like a tower (why??). At that time, it is said that the muddy stream is generated when long rain falls, and the foot becomes a flood often, and the Emperor Meiji makes the you can get a prefecture and is based on the forest revival in the mountains of Yamanashi where the green was few in the deforestation. Although the Emperor Meiji of the time and the gratitude of the inhabitants to it are understood well, it is to build the tower of the Egypt wind by the site of Japan ancient architecture.
Discourage out (?), to Honmaru. Kofu Castle is a mountain fortress that was built on a hill called Ichijou Koyama is well understood… When I looked at the old photograph ( REFERENCE hp) of the early Showa era when I thought, Honmaru was a plane, and a huge fountain was made in the center. Moreover, it seems to have been built to the mock tower in Meiji 36 (removal time unknown). After that, such as fountains are removed, and it is raised like a hill because it has reclaimed variously. A splendid stone wall which looks in the back is tower units. However, the historical materials which recorded the figure of Tower were not found, and whether it was built in the first place (a lot of castles which were only the stand) is the fact that even unknown. The gold leaf tiles that were often used in the tower during the Toyotomi regime were excavated from the periphery, and the tower was probably built around that time, and the gold-leaf tiles had been planted. Is considered.
Tower Corner Stone. The length of this imposing foot. However, this tower is also said to have been modified for the slope construction of the tower side to be described later…!
Tower Units Description Board. It is in the underground Ishikura part where the stairs are half raised.
Then, let’s climb the tower and see the surrounding scenery and the tower stand itself.
